That’s what we did with the Boombox 4

You’re probably asking yourself: How? Or, can the Boombox 3 even get any louder?

Our answer: We’re never not pushing, tinkering, and obsessing over the JBL sound. And yes, it can always get louder.

Here are the biggest, boldest tweaks we made to the portable speaker icon—and the features we didn’t touch. Because if it ain’t broke, dial it up to 11.

More massive sound

In the sound department, the JBL Boombox 4 picks up where the Boombox 3 left off. The redesigned Boombox 4 packs in two bigger woofers, two tweeters, and three passive radiators, so every track hits harder and sounds cleaner. We also added AI Sound Boost, our exclusive tech that analyzes your music and adjusts the acoustics in real time to reduce distortion—even at max volumes. So even if the couple on the next beach towel complains about the sound, they’ll never complain about the sound quality.

Still goes the distance— And the extra mile

It’s hard to top 24 hours of playtime. But the Boombox 4 somehow manages, coming in at up to 28 hours on a single charge. JBL Playtime Boost adds an extra six hours in case you’re not ready to call it a day—or night.

Need even more life out of your speaker? Replace the rechargeable battery, and your JBL Boombox 4 will be right back at 100% juice.

Still All the proofs

Just like its predecessor, The Boombox 4 is dustproof and waterproof, so it can handle whatever the weather—or your clumsiest friend—throws at it. 

Louder, larger—and lighter

It may sound and look bigger, but we redesigned the Boombox 4 to be lighter, weighing in at 1.7 pounds less than the classic. It’s still got the same iconic shape; it’s just easier to hold as you pop, lock—or sit because you’ve outdone yourself on the dance floor.

Even more about that bass

The Boombox 3 pumps the kind of bass that you feel in your soul. The Boombox 4 plunges even deeper and gives some glow to match the mood. Hit the Bass Boost button and the JBL Horn mark lights up orange for Deep Bass mode. Hit it twice and it turns white for Punchy Bass mode.

More connection, because pairing is caring

The Boombox 4 is still Bluetooth 5.4-enabled and compatible with the JBL Portable app: it just has different multi-speaker powers. 

You know how The Boombox 3 can connect to other JBL speakers using PartyBoost? The Boombox 4 taps into Auracast™. the next-gen Bluetooth tech, for easier syncing across even more JBL devices. And it covers major ground, so when the crew has three different speakers going across three different tailgate spots, you can still sync and pregame to the same playlist.

And something for the audiophiles

Like the Boombox 3, the Boombox 4 lets you fine-tune how your music feels in the JBL Portable app. And if you want to hear every teeny, tiny detail, plug into your other audio device using the USB-C port to vibe out to hyper-high-res lossless audio playback.
